What Kenneth Card alleged

Texas Roadhouse customer Kenneth Card says he repeatedly received sirloin when he ordered an eight-ounce filet mignon at a restaurant in Forsyth, Illinois. His account concerns three visits, but the chain disputes that number, according to reporting by The U.S. Sun.[4]

Texas Roadhouse told Fox News that managers resolved one incident, but it could not establish that the problem happened three times.[2]

In the video, Card said he had ordered a meal costing about $30. According to BroBible's account, he challenged the steak, a server sought another opinion from the kitchen and then acknowledged it was sirloin. Card also said he had worked as a cook and knew different steak cuts.[1]

BroBible published its account on October 12. Its account describes what Card said in his video, not an independently established finding of deliberate substitution.[1]

Filet and sirloin are separate menu items

The company's official menu lists Hand-Cut Sirloin and Dallas Filet as separate steak dinners. It describes the sirloin as a value-focused option and the filet as its most tender steak. Both come with two sides. The two appear in its Hand-Cut Steaks section, alongside ribeye, strip and other steak options. Those descriptions establish what the company offers, not which cut reached Card's table.[3]

The menu also distinguishes those dinners from Filet Medallions, which are served with sauce over seasoned rice, and from sirloin combination meals. The distinction matters when reading the complaint: Card described ordering a filet dinner, rather than a generic steak dish. The public menu cannot resolve what happened during the visits he described.[1][3]
