Tariff lookup

Find a product’s U.S. import duty in the official Harmonized Tariff Schedule, by keyword or HTS code.

How it’s calculated

We search the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, published by the U.S. International Trade Commission. The general rate is the normal duty for goods from most countries. “Special programs” lists lower rates under trade agreements and preference programs, by program code.

The general rate is often not the whole bill. Additional duties in Chapter 99 of the schedule, such as Section 301 tariffs on Chinese goods, Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and other products, and other temporary measures, can apply on top of it depending on the product and country of origin. Where the schedule links a line to a Chapter 99 heading, we list it. Customs and Border Protection makes the final classification; this is not legal or customs advice.
